    Dear Colleagues: 

    With the continued threat of COVID looming, AHIC has had to make the tough decision to cancel our Fall Affordable Housing Summit in Salt Lake City.   Travel by plane and large events just don’t seem feasible for any of us for 2020.

    Instead, we’ll be taking a page from our popular Spring Webinar series to offer a similar virtual event to you and the industry in October.  Here’s the lowdown.

    What:  We’re planning 6 panels, plus three events:  an Open Forum, a Book Club, and a Networking Cocktail Party

    When:  Panels will be held Tuesday – Thursday, October 20-22 and October 27-29, from noon – 1:30 pm E; the events will be scheduled for those weeks too, stay tuned. 

    Tell Me More!  Your Program Committee is working hard to bring you compelling insights from experts and concrete tools to help you do your job better.  Here’s our line-up.

    • A deep dive into operating subsidies
    • The outlook for the 2020 election– November 3rd will be right around the corner
    • Insights from developers on how they are continuing to respond to the pandemic and the recession – what is the impact on construction, lease-up, operations, and new projects?
    • An exploration of how the affordable housing industry has advanced, or hindered, social justice and equity and ways we can all do better
    • Best practices from state allocating agency leaders responding to the crisis
    • How investors are changing their day to day underwriting and asset management practices

     

    Can I Afford It?  Our free Spring webinar series had more than 300 participants, including close to 90 investors from our member companies engaging with AHIC for the first time.   We want to make sure that no one gets shut out because of budget constraints, so we are inaugurating a free option for registration.  Having the broadest audience possible is our goal in this unprecedented time.  Sponsorships opportunities will also be available for those members who would like to support this open access approach.

    All webinars are FREE and available to ALL AHIC Members and colleagues at their institutions

     
    We have developed this webinar series to take the place of our Spring Meeting so that we may still come together to learn, discuss, share, commiserate, and motivate.  With this series, you will experience panel discussions featuring great content and speakers, as well as have opportunities for discussion with your colleagues. We hope you join us for this opportunity to come together in a different, but exciting way.

    All sessions  will be held via the Zoom Webinar platform.  
    Housekeeping Notes for Zoom Webinar Attendees:
    • If you have any questions during the session for the speaker(s), please send those questions via the Q&A (not chat). 
    • If you are having technical difficulties and need to communicate with the AHIC Staff, please use the chat function. 
    • When you join the webinar, you will be automatically muted, and your video camera will be off. Attendees will only be able to see the presenter(s), not other attendees. For our Happy Hour program you will be able to freely use your camera and mic.
