Meeting/Event Information

AHIC is taking our 2020 Fall Affordable Housing Summit online. Join us for a series of terrific opportunities for frank talk on industry developments and virtual networking during the weeks of October 12th and 19th.
We’re planning a series of panels with leading experts and industry insiders on:
    • The outlook for the 2020 election– November 3rd will be right around the corner
    • A deep dive into operating subsidies: what are the characteristics of the various programs, and are recent trends within the industry compelling investors to re-evaluate the risk profiles of these resources?
    •  Insights from developers on how they are continuing to respond to the pandemic and the recession – what is the impact on construction, lease-up, operations, and new projects?
    • An exploration of how the affordable housing industry has advanced, or hindered, social justice and equity and ways we can all do better
    • Best practices from state allocating agency leaders responding to the crisis from the front lines across the country
    • How investors are changing their day to day underwriting and asset management practices
We’ll have our ever-popular Open Forum for engaging in a free-wheeling dialogue on the state of the market -- see long time friends and meet new ones.  And the AHIC Book Club will be discussing Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson.
The suggested registration fee for participating in the series is $300.  It is important during this challenging time that as many industry colleagues as possible are sharing insights and concerns, and AHIC’s leadership doesn’t want budget constraints to keep anyone away, so we have a free option available to our members and invited guests for registration. Just email [email protected] to receive the registration code.
See the schedule and more information here. If you have any questions, please contact our administrator, Shelby McInvale, at [email protected]
Sponsorship opportunities to underwrite our free open access approach are available,

    Dear AHIC Members and Guests:

We are excited to invite you to attend AHIC’s 2019 Fall Affordable Housing Summit on October 23-24 in Nashville. Join us for terrific opportunities for frank talk on industry developments and plenty of networking. Don’t miss this invitation-only event.

On Wednesday, AHIC members convene at 1:00 pm for our annual business meeting and board of governor elections. Then all are invited as we confront the new realities of the impact of climate change on affordable housing. Next we’ll learn the latest crucial tax and accounting issues affecting our industry today.

That evening we’ll hoedown at a Welcome Reception, ending at 8:00 pm so you can continue networking at local bars and restaurants.

Thursday starts with diving into the landscape of state tax credits and how they can be leveraged to support our developments. Leading experts will share insights on the directions the economy and the 2020 Presidential election may take: what could next year hold for affordable housing, and how can we be prepared to meet it? And we'll peer into the future with a session on affordable housing disruption and the new economy. Will technology crumble the barriers to change in the housing industry?

Sign up for an affinity discussion table at lunch, or read THIS LAND IS OUR LAND: An Immigrant’s Manifesto, By Suketu Mehta and join our Book Club. We’ll once again have a freewheeling Open Forum that will help you make new connections and learn the latest trends in the field. Our closing dinner will offer up a delicious southern menu, with more music for entertainment.

The deadline for early bird registration rates and discount hotel reservations at the AC Nashville is September 13th. If you have any questions, please call AHIC’s Executive Administrator, Briana Kovar, at (571)293-0998.

We look forward to seeing you in Music City for lively discussions and a foot-stomping time.
